Shared Musings From The Wild Side
Have you ever noticed that you are afraid of what you also most fervently desire? It seems illogical but true. I see it in myself and other painting participants all the time. Here is an example:
In the beginning of each workshop I have a simple but disarming format for people to introduce themselves. With these instructions, “Say the first uninhibited words that come out of your mouth”, I tell them: “First say your true name (it can be different from your everyday name)”. Next: say, “My greatest wish for this painting retreat is ……” Last: say, “My greatest fear in this painting retreat is…….”( if you are aware of a fear.)
I recently returned from Switzerland painting with 40 people for 5 days with a question. Strangers, many who have never painted before, from many different countries and cultures came together and fell in love with each other, with them selves and with their paintings … and with me too. A profound life altering experience for all of us.
I have been Painting From the Source® with tens of thousands (including you) for the past 36 years …. and am grateful for every minute. And to my surprise I do not see an end in sight. I have always wanted to make a positive impact on people, and thus the planet … a desire to leave the world a better place than when I arrived.
This painting, "Mr. Toro” (3'x4'), is an example of my intuitive channeled process and what others do in my workshops. He appeared by surprise many years ago.
You can paint powerful images too.
The next weekend workshop in Oracle, AZ is May 25-27.
Mine are not the usual New Years Resolutions. Leading up to the New Year I have been brought to my knees by the necessity of being more humble, vulnerable and innocent … just in time for winter solstice, the turn to increasing light which precedes the new year.
There is a deep process in each of us that directs our unfolding into our true essence and wholeness. I have been privileged to access this place in myself through Aviva's brilliant work, Painting From the Source®. More and more my whole self is alive with the creative flow that not only comes out through my paintings ( as if that wouldn't be enough!) but in all areas of my life. My life has become a seamless work of art! Thank you Aviva and thank you Source. I am grateful beyond measure.
Janet Wing MSW LICSW 2017
Scary images of monsters and half forgotten predators visit our paintings unannounced, like unexpected nightmares when we sleep. The brain activates our senses; it feels so real we want to get away. We want to rip up the painting and begin again. For many of us the early path to free ecstatic creative flow is strewn with surfacing energetic entities, demonic, crude and terrifying that demand our attention. We say, “Oh I needed to get that out of my system. That is the past. Now I can discard this monster, this muddy mess and take a new paper to paint something pretty, something uplifting".
If you have not attended a PFTS workshop and are curious to know what it is about, listen to this Interview of me by Royda Crouse on her radio program in Columbia MO, 2004, "Woman’s Issues, Woman’s Voices”.
Taking my own good medicine: When I watch and listen to my painting, it unfailingly prompts me where to go next, what color and image to expand and what to cover over…
